Target Cities Revelation

The New USFL is slowly revealing it’s plans. The Masters of the NUSFL have been patient. After observing other lower level Football leagues, NUSFL will be ready with an authentic product that won’t be refuted.

Millions of persons in the North America region have waited for a return of this league. Some even have retro items. Of course as I stated before other leagues have come, and they have gone. For good reasons they simply sucked.

USFL Followers were insulted by some of these leagues. These leagues have produced generic names and logos that a person of the age of 3 could have thought of.

This won’t happen with the NUSFL. Even the retro names and logos of the past could compete with the NFL. In fact some of them were stronger.

We can only hope the NUSFL will return these names and logos in a 21st century form.

Excitement is getting stronger for the reurn.

Some of the cities have been revealed as possible venues.

The list:

Akron, Ohio [10]
Austin, Texas
Birmingham, Alabama *
Columbus, Ohio
Dallas, Texas (2014/2015)
Hartford, Connecticut
Hershey, Pennsylvania
Los Angeles, California *
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Memphis, Tennessee *
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma *
Omaha, Nebraska
Portland, Oregon *
Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina[11]
Salt Lake City, Utah
San Antonio, Texas *

Only 8 will be chosen for 2014.

Let the names begin!!!

Whats In a Name?

No news yet on the city and team names.

Many speculate.

Many are excited.

Many hope for the return of the retro names.

Let’s make a prediction.

Here is the mock 8.

San Jose Invaders.  Nobody knows this.  San Jose is a great sports town that has only one team.  It’s metro area is just under 3 million.  Some of the Bay Area teams like the 49ers and A’s are discovering the greatness of San Jose.  The USFL is perfect for the Silicon Valley. The 49ers are the home team for this city.  People would flock to watch a San Jose only pro football team.

New Jersey Generals.  This state is losing it’s NBA franchise to Brooklyn.  That leaves the New Jersey Devils.  Adding a pro football team to the area is perfect for this region.  Fans from North and South Jersey could support this team.

Portland Breakers. Portland is another city that has limited sports teams.  Fans are dying for their own football team.  The Breakers could share a venue with the Portland Timbers.

Las Vegas Gamblers. Too easy.  The retro Houston Gamblers had one of the best uniforms and teams in the USFL.  Las Vegas is waiting patiently for a pro team to be born in their area. Houston is in love with the Texans.  The Gamblers could not compete with the NFL Texans.

Akron Fire. This is the only confirmed city and nickname.  I don’t like the name.  Too generic.

Birmingham Stallions. A huge hit.  Birmingham loved it’s Stallions.   Birmingham has been actively trying to get a pro sports team as well.  This team comes back, Alabama will be excited.

Salt Lake City Stars. Why not? Somebody has to move to Salt Lake City.  North Utah is growing fast.  A USFL team is complete for this area.  They have 2 local college teams.  Add a pro team in Utah and it will be epic.

Memphis Panthers. Michigan or Memphis it makes no difference. Memphis has nothing but the Grizzlies.  Let’s go with the retro Panthers.

None of these are official.

We hope for the retro nicknames to return.

Akron Fire

The USFL Masters have been interviewing several US Cities for future play.   One of them is Akron.

Akron?

Yep.

The town made famous by Lebron.  The town made un- famous by Lebron.

Akron is a town of about 250,000.  It has been known for many things.  There hasm’t been pro football in Akron in over 80 years.   Akron loves the pigskin. The only persons that attended a pro football game in Akron, are now in a retirement home.   Akron and the rest of Ohio has suffered.

Just think if Cleveland actually gave Art Modell his new stadium?  What have the old Browns done in Baltimore? One Super Bowl championship with countless number of playoff appearances.

What have the new Browns done?  Nothing.

This is why the NUSFL  in Akron is perfect.  The fans in North East Ohio have had nothing to cheer about.

Fans in Akron will pack any football venue given to the them.  The question is, what will be the name?

Let’s take a look.

Akron Maulers.  The retro Pittsburgh Maulers were a heavy favorite. I like this name, just change the old colors.

Akron Iron.  Why not?   Akron is 100 percent blue-collar to the max.

Akron Blitz.  Take the old Chicago Blitz colors and you have something similar to the states beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

What is the proposed name as of today?

Akron Fire.

We will see.
